Extending a Hanoi Stay: What to Confirm Before Your Current Dates End

If you would like to extend your Hanoi stay, ask while there is still time to consider alternatives. The apartment may already be reserved for the following nights, and the offer for an extension may differ from your current booking. A clear request should identify dates, guests and whether remaining in the same unit is essential.

Treat the extension as a new availability decision

Ask whether the same unit is available and whether the category, amount, services or terms change. If a move is needed, agree its timing before your existing checkout. Update transport separately after the extension is confirmed. A request sent before departure is useful, but the original dates remain the reference until the additional period has been accepted.

Ask about availability first

Give the new departure date and mention any uncertainty. Ask whether the same apartment is available or whether an alternative category or move would be required. Do not assume that continued payment alone permits you to remain in a room already allocated to someone else.

If a room move is possible, ask about timing, access and how belongings will be handled. Confirm what assistance, if any, can be arranged rather than relying on an informal expectation.

Request the actual extension offer

Ask for the additional total, inclusions and payment requirements. For longer stays, check whether utilities, housekeeping or other services are calculated differently for the extra period.

A previous monthly rate or discount does not automatically apply. Compare the written offer for the new dates and confirm the applicable change or cancellation terms.

Keep the records consistent

Once agreed, obtain confirmation showing the revised stay or the separate extension period. Check the guest count, category and final departure date. If a company or agent manages the reservation, involve the authorised booker.

Update any airport transfer, onward transport or delivery plans that depended on the original checkout date. These arrangements do not necessarily change when the room booking changes.

Have an alternative if needed

If availability is limited, decide whether you would accept another category, move to a different property or keep the original departure. Do not let an unanswered extension request run into the current checkout time.
